UnterSpannung – an interactive exhibition

UnderVoltage / UnterSpannung (2026) – A special final exhibition bringing inclusive sound art to life through sensory exploration and interaction.

Interactive sound installation · Atelier im Park, Cologne

UnterSpannung brings bodily difference, imperfection and shared agency into resonance. Developed through six months of artistic exploration with residents with complex support needs at Cologne’s Dr.-Dormagen-Guffanti Centre, the work connects the artistic approaches of Individualitäten and Disruptive Entity. Individual perceptions, needs and impulses shaped its development.

Deliberately imperfect body casts, recycled materials, residents’ recorded sounds and interactive electronics form a tactile, responsive environment. Cracks, gaps and irregularities affirm bodily diversity as an integral part of human experience. Through touch, proximity and movement, visitors activate and transform sound, becoming part of a shared composition.

Moving between electrical, bodily and interpersonal tension, UnterSpannung makes individuality a starting point for encounter, participation and artistic expression.

My heartfelt thanks to the City of Cologne, the residents of the Dr. Dormagen-Guffanti facility, the Dr. Dormagen-Guffanti Foundation, and Sozial-Betriebe-Köln (SBK). It was a genuine pleasure to bring this project to life with and for you!

As a special gift, I created a permanent interactive sound installation for the residents, inviting them to explore and experience sound in their own way, whenever they wish.

It means a lot to me knowing that my work will continue to inspire new sonic experiences beyond the exhibition.
