The video documentation is the result of the research and the answer of the following question:

In which way the Kulturgate can enable cultural & social exchange?

The Kulturgate is an urban common project that was founded by Ute Jaroß in 2012.
A red container is used to store materials and shows visitors the way to a platform for active leisure, culture and art @ the Tempelhofer Feld in Berlin.
In cooperation with volunteer partners the visitors can participate on regular offers and irregular specials. Everything is done on a voluntary basis
The diverse socio-cultural potential of this place aroused my curiosity and brought me to my research question:

In which way the kulturgate can enable cultural & social exchange? 

Using artistic and ethnographic methods, it was possible to capture how the Kulturgate appropriation of the social space and promotes participation.
My research has shown that Kulturgate is a place of exchange.
The different offers encourage visitors to participate and promote social exchange in a special way.

A touch of light,
or was it just an illusion?
A thought, born from the desire
to make inner brightness manifest outwardly?

Reality... what is that?
Is it what I believe I see?
Or what I feel?
Or do I perhaps see as I feel?
Or feel as I see?

The darkness that resides within me,
born from feelings,
and yet grown into this feeling
only through external oppression.

An interplay that seems to be
woven together.

A touch of light,
the hope for inner brightness.
Brightness that stands for ease and carefreeness,
for which everything within me so deeply longs!

oder war es nur Einbildung?
Ein Gedanke, der den Wunsch
Von innerer Helligkeit im Äußeren
wahr werden lassen wollte?
Realität…was ist das?
Ist es das, was ich glaube zu sehen?
Oder das, was ich fühle?
Oder sehe ich vielleicht so wie ich fühle?
Oder fühle ich gar, was ich sehe?
Die Dunkelheit, die mein inneres beherbergt,
durch Gefühl entstanden,
und doch durch äußere Beklemmung erst zu diesem
Gefühl erwachsen.

„Ickes Leveltrip“ radio play (german)

Icke’s Leveltrip tells the story of Icke’s journey after accidentally departing from the here and now. Icke finds himself in another life after „death,“ where he must traverse various levels to reach the „highest“ plane.

The „highest“ plane to be achieved, which one should strive for in every moment of life, is characterized above all by the soul being in absolute relaxation, free from pain, desire, despair, longing, and sorrow. A state of profound gratitude for „existence“ and for living out every precious „second“ in complete balance surpasses all else and marks the state of both soul and spirit.

Icke´s Leveltrip erzählt von der Reise von Icke nachdem dieser aus Versehen aus dem hier und jetzt verschieden ist. Icke landet in einem weiteren Leben, nach dem „Tod“, wo es verschiedene Level zu durchwandern gibt, um die „höchste“ Ebene zu erreichen.

Die zu erreichende „höchste“ Ebene, die es in jedem Moment eines Lebens anzustreben gilt, hebt sich insbesondere dadurch hervor, dass die Seele in absoluter Entspannung, frei von Schmerz, Verlang, Verzweiflung, Sehnsucht und Trauer ist. Ein Zustand der großen Dankbarkeit über das „(Er)Leben“ und das Ausleben jeder kostbaren „Sekunde“ in totaler Ausgeglichenheit überwiegt alles andere und markiert den Zustand von Seele und Geist.

Som e Movimento (Sound and Movement) is an inclusive, participatory art project that took place in Portugal from May 30 to June 2, 2023. It brought together young adults with disabilities and explored the integration of sound, movement, and inclusion in a collaborative and immersive creative process. The location itself – Canelas – inspired the vibrations, emotions, and thoughts that influenced the sound work. The central element of the project was the Tree of Soundsinstallation, which embodied the auditory and physical contributions of the participants, creating a dynamic, interactive environment where individual and collective forms of expression converged.

Over the course of four days, the participants engaged in sound production through body percussion and natural materials, resulting in unique compositions that were recorded and integrated into the installation. Movement exercises expanded physical awareness and fostered new forms of nonverbal communication. At the end, a collaborative performance was presented, celebrating both individual and collective expression.

The project demonstrated the power of art to bridge gaps and amplify marginalized voices. It fostered inclusion, empathy, self-confidence, and social connection, showcasing the transformative power of participatory art that turned the emotions of the place and the participants into a shared creative experience. Som e Movimento demonstrates how participatory art can create meaningful dialogues, empower individuals, and stimulate social change, serving as a model for inclusive creative processes.

4 days workshop – presentation and installation

Together with interested people from Portugal we worked in the field of sound exploring and creation and their realization in movement.

The result was tangible as a soundcomposition-dance around the „Tree of Sounds“

First day we made sound work : the group created different kinds of sound by themselves with body percussion and with environmental materials. We have recorded them with a field recorder and on sound modules for the sound tree.

Second day was the moving day: With different kinds of methods the horizon for different ways of movement was opened and the sensitivity to it has been expanded.

Third day was the preparation for the spectacle: we brought together the experiences of sound and movement, created an own short song and practiced all with the soundtree for the Finalshow.

„Som e Movimento – partizipative & inklusive Klang- und Bewegungskunst

Som e Movimento (Klang und Bewegung) ist ein inklusives, partizipatives Kunstprojekt, das vom 30. Mai bis 2. Juni 2023 in Portugal stattfand. Es brachte junge Erwachsene mit Einschränkungen zusammen und erkundete die Integration von Klang, Bewegung und Inklusion in einem kollaborativen und immersiven kreativen Prozess. Der Ort selbst – Canelas – inspirierte die Schwingungen, Emotionen und Gedanken, die in die Klangarbeit einflossen. Das zentrale Element des Projekts war die Installation Tree of Sounds, die die auditiven und physischen Beiträge der Teilnehmenden verkörperte und eine dynamische, interaktive Umgebung schuf, in der sich individuelle und kollektive Ausdrucksformen vereinten.

Über vier Tage hinweg nahmen die Teilnehmenden an der Klangproduktion durch Körperperkussion und natürliche Materialien teil, wodurch einzigartige Kompositionen entstanden, die aufgenommen und in die Installation integriert wurden. Bewegungsübungen erweiterten das körperliche Bewusstsein und förderten neue Formen nonverbaler Kommunikation. Am Ende wurde eine gemeinsame Aufführung präsentiert, die die individuelle und kollektive Ausdruckskraft feierte.

Das Projekt zeigte die Kraft der Kunst, Lücken zu überbrücken und marginalisierte Stimmen zu verstärken. Es förderte Inklusion, Empathie, Selbstvertrauen und soziale Verbindung und zeigt die transformative Kraft partizipativer Kunst, die die Emotionen des Ortes und der Teilnehmer:innen in eine gemeinsame kreative Erfahrung verwandelte. Som e Movimento demonstriert, wie partizipative Kunst bedeutungsvolle Dialoge schaffen, Individuen stärken und sozialen Wandel anregen kann und diente als Modell für inklusive kreative Prozesse.

KlangStimme is an interactive sound art project that reimagines public spaces as platforms for personal and communal expression. Rooted in Goetheplatz, Mainz, the project transforms emotions and experiences into a dynamic auditory environment, exploring how sound can connect individual introspection with collective resonance. A key element of KlangStimme is its emphasis on sustainability, both in its materials and its methodologies, aligning artistic creation with ecological awareness. An other central element of the project is the active participation of attendees, where haptic experiences and creative initiative play a key role.

The process begins with participants reflecting on their emotional and sensory experiences of Goetheplatz. Using recycled and upcycled materials, they create simple sound-producing devices that capture and externalize their inner states. These personal audio expressions are recorded and embedded in interactive sound modules installed throughout the square, making the emotional responses to the environment accessible to the broader public.

Visitors engage with the installation by activating the sound modules, weaving individual contributions into a collective auditory dialogue. This interaction creates a living soundscape where personal emotions merge with the atmosphere of the public space. Each activation contributes to the fluid and ephemeral nature of the project, shaped by the listeners’ presence and the environment.

Sustainability is woven into every aspect of KlangStimme. By utilizing recycled materials for the creation of sound devices and emphasizing ecological considerations in the installation’s design, the project underscores the importance of mindful resource use in artistic practice. This approach not only reduces environmental impact but also reinforces the project’s message of connection—between individuals, communities, and the environment.

KlangStimme demonstrates how art can foster dialogue, self-awareness, and collaboration in public spaces. The act of transforming emotions into sound deepens participants‘ and visitors’ connection to their surroundings, creating a sense of shared experience and collective creativity. KlangStimme ist ein interaktives Klangkunstprojekt, das öffentliche Räume als Plattformen für persönliche und gemeinschaftliche Ausdrucksformen neu interpretiert. Verankert auf dem Goetheplatz in Mainz, verwandelt das Projekt Emotionen und Erlebnisse in eine dynamische auditive Umgebung und untersucht, wie Klang individuelle Introspektion mit kollektiver Resonanz verbinden kann. Tree of Sounds – interactive sound installation

„Tree of Sounds“ is a type of artistic-technical system that forms the basis for interactive sound installations, which uses haptic elements (push buttons) to create connections between sounds and people that become „visible“ in an audio-visual way. This construction was presented for the first time in the exhibition Connection-Confection-Confession @ Atelier Frankfurt. The „Tree of Sounds“ also serves as a basic element of the artistic-technical methodology for further installations and further developments of future works, dealing with a wide variety of issues.

One aspect explored using this construction is how sound can serve as a medium for personal expression and communal resonance.

„Tree of Sounds“ goes in exchange with KlangStimme from Neuspektiven 02 Mainz

Under the artistic direction of Abelha Supersónica, sounds were created in August 2022 that reflected the emotions and themes of visitors to Neuspektiven 02 at Goetheplatz in Mainz. These individual audio memories of a place were subsequently transported to Frankfurt am Main, where they immersed visitors of the Open Ateliers exhibition in November 2022 in a new soundscape.

The installation bridges the past and the present: while the original sounds evoke emotions and memories tied to a specific place, new compositions—and consequently, new memories—emerge at a different location through the reactions of active participants and listeners. This fusion inspires and creates space for transformation. Visitors can activate the sounds and experience how individual expressions blend into a collective soundscape.

The installation is both a work of art and a field for scientific exploration, examining how sound influences emotional experiences and fosters interpersonal resonance. Tree of Sounds powerfully demonstrates how sound can be used as a tool for self-awareness and shared experiences.

„Tree of Sounds“ ist eine Art künstlerisch-technisches System, das die Grundlage für interaktive Klanginstallationen bildet. „Tree of Sounds“ tritt in einen Austausch mit KlangStimme aus Neuspektiven 02 in Mainz.

Unter der künstlerischen Leitung von Abelha Supersónica wurden im August 2022 Klänge geschaffen, die die Emotionen und Themen der Besucher:innen des Neuspektiven 02 auf dem Goetheplatz in Mainz widerspiegelten. Diese individuellen Audioerinnerungen eines Ortes wurden anschließend nach Frankfurt am Main transportiert, wo sie die Besucher:innen der Ausstellung Open Ateliers im November 2022 in ein neues Klangbild eintauchen ließen.

Die Installation verbindet Vergangenes mit Neuem: Während die ursprünglichen Klänge Erinnerungen an Emotionen und Erinnerungen eines Ortes wachrufen, entstehen an einem neuen Ort durch die Reaktion der aktiv Teilnehmenden und Zuhörenden neue Kompositionen und damit auch neue Erinnerungen. Diese Verschmelzung schafft Inspiration und eröffnet Raum für Veränderung. Hier können Besucher:innen die Klänge aktivieren und erleben, wie sich individuelle Ausdrucksformen zu einem kollektiven Klangbild vereinen.

Die Installation ist zugleich ein künstlerisches Werk und ein Feld für wissenschaftliche Forschung: Sie untersucht, wie Klang auf das emotionale Erleben wirkt und welche zwischenmenschlichen Resonanzen dabei entstehen. „Tree of Sounds“ zeigt eindrucksvoll, wie Klänge als Werkzeug zur Selbstwahrnehmung und für gemeinschaftliche Erfahrungen genutzt werden können.

Kaum etwas definiert und charakterisiert Menschen so wie die Beziehungen zu ihrer Lebenswelt.
Wir stehen in Beziehung zu uns selbst, zu anderen Menschen und zu unserer Umwelt.
Beziehungen können verbinden, trennen oder auch zu Verirrungen führen.
Doch wie werden diese Beziehungen / Connections zusammengesetzt, hergestellt, aufgeteilt und festgelegt?
Durch Sound, Fotografie, Performance, Installation und weiteren künstlerischen Darbietungen legen neun Studierende des Masterstudiengangs Performative Künste in sozialen Feldern an der Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences ein intimes und lebensweltnahes Geständnis zum Thema Beziehung ab.
Die künstlerische Konzepte und Arbeiten wurden im Rahmen des Moduls „Intermediales Projekt“ unter der Leitung von Snežana Golubović erarbeitet.

KlangStimme – eine partizipative und interaktive Klanginstallation





Das Projekt KlangStimme erforscht, wie Klang als Medium für persönlichen Ausdruck und gemeinschaftliche Resonanz genutzt werden kann. Ein zentraler Bestandteil des Projekts ist die aktive Mitgestaltung durch die Teilnehmer:innen, bei der haptische Erfahrungen und kreative Eigeninitiative eine Schlüsselrolle spielen.





Im Mittelpunkt stand der Goetheplatz in Mainz, der als Ort künstlerischer Forschung diente. Besucher*innen wurden eingeladen, in einem partizipativen Prozess eigene Klangsequenzen zu gestalten, die ihre Emotionen oder aktuelle Themen widerspiegelten. In einer einfachen mobilen Werkstattatmosphäre bauten sie zunächst einfache Klangerzeuger selbst und entdeckten durch experimentelles Ausprobieren die vielseitigen Klangmöglichkeiten der Materialien. Diese haptischen und schöpferischen Erfahrungen förderten Eigeninitiative und erlaubten es den Teilnehmenden, ihre persönliche Ausdruckskraft in individuellen Klangkompositionen zu entfalten.





Die entstandenen Klangkreationen wurden in einer Soundinstallation integriert und an einem Naturbereich des Goetheplatzes installiert. Besucher:innen konnten die Klänge per Knopfdruck aktivieren und so eine immer wieder neue, einzigartige Komposition erleben. Während die Klangschaffenden ihre Werke in einem neuen Kontext wahrnahmen und reflektierten, erhielten Zuhörende Einblicke in die emotionale Welt der Schaffenden. Der Goetheplatz verwandelte sich in einen Raum des Austauschs, in dem individuelle Ausdrucksformen zu einer kollektiven Klanglandschaft verschmolzen.





KlangStimme zeigt eindrucksvoll, wie durch Eigeninitiative, Haptik und Klang neue Wege der Selbstwahrnehmung und des gemeinsamen Erlebens geschaffen werden können. Die Verbindung von Kunst und Forschung macht deutlich, wie Klang zur emotionalen Reflexion und zum Aufbau gemeinschaftlicher Resonanz beitragen kann.

Eine patizipative Soundinstallation für junge Klangforscher:innen und Neugierige

Junge Besucher:innen zwischen 6 und 21 Jahren sind dazu eingeladen eigene Klangsequenzen zu erstellen und damit ihr momentanes Lebensgefühl oder aktuell bewegende Themen über Klang auszudrücken. Dazu werden zunächst einfache Klangerzeuger selbst gebaut, während einer Klangreise die Klangmöglichkeiten erforscht und im Anschluss individuelle Klangkreationen gebastelt. Diese kurzen Sequenzen werden dann auf einzelnen Tonmodulen aufgenommen und an einem ausgewählten Naturbereich des Goetheplatzes installiert.





Dort entsteht dann eine Soundinstallation, die durch das individuelle Abspielen der Klangspuren zustande kommt. Per Knopfdruck können alle Besucher:innen diese Klangspuren abspielen, wodurch eine fortwährend, einzigartige Komposition entsteht. Während die Klangkünstler:innen dabei ihre Klangkreationen auf neue Weise erleben und eine neue Perspektive auf das Entstehungsgefühl einnehmen können, erhalten die Zuhörer:innen einen Einblick in die Gefühlswelt der Klangschaffenden.
